A shower system refers to the collection of components and fixtures that work together to deliver water for showering purposes. It typically includes a combination of the following elements:
- Showerhead: This is the primary component of a shower system that releases water for bathing. There are various types of showerheads available, including fixed wall-mounted heads, handheld showerheads, rain showerheads, and adjustable multi-function heads.
- Shower Controls: These are the valves or handles used to control the flow of water, adjust the temperature, and switch between different shower functions. Common types include single-handle or dual-handle faucets, thermostatic valves, and pressure-balancing valves.
- Shower Arm: The shower arm is a pipe that connects the showerhead to the water supply. It is typically mounted on the wall and extends from the water outlet to position the showerhead at a comfortable height and angle.
- Shower Hose: In the case of a handheld showerhead, a flexible hose is used to connect the showerhead to the water outlet. The hose allows for greater maneuverability and can be useful for rinsing or cleaning the shower area.
- Shower Diverter: This component allows you to switch the water flow between different shower functions. For example, if you have a combination of a fixed showerhead and a handheld showerhead, the diverter lets you choose which one to use.
- Shower Enclosure or Curtain: To contain the water within the shower area, you might have a shower enclosure, which can be made of glass, acrylic, or other materials. Alternatively, a shower curtain can be used to prevent water from splashing outside the shower space.
- Drainage System: The shower system is connected to a drain that removes the used water from the shower area. The drain is usually located at the bottom of the shower space and is designed to efficiently remove water and prevent clogging.
It's worth noting that some shower systems may include additional features such as built-in LED lighting, body jets for a massaging effect, steam functions, or digital controls for personalized preference.
